Vangie Garza Neil, aka Santafewriter

Hello and thank you for stopping by!

I was born in San Antonio, Texas, the home of the Alamo. Our father passed away

while we were all incredibly young and my mother, an amazing woman, raised six

children while balancing two to three jobs to put food on our table.

We grew up in the projects, and although we did not have much, we were rich

with love! At times, we moved from house to house, but she made every home - a home!

She passed away not long after I turned fourteen years of age, losing her in an

automobile accident.

When my mother left us for a better place, we went to live with my sister, Nancy,

who took care of five of us along with her two children, my niece and nephew. It was a

most difficult time for her especially with five new mouths to feed, to clothe, and to raise.

She, along with my mother, sacrificed much. We lost this amazing woman to cancer when I

was 26.

I am grateful for all they taught me: how to be a young lady, how to treat everyone with kindness, how to compete with only myself, and the importance Jesus would have on my life. I am especially appreciative for every word, every hug, every kiss and yes, even the discipline that came my way.

My mother, along with my sister, were my teachers and my mentors. It is because of these two amazing women, and most importantly, my Savior Jesus Christ, that I am the person I am today. The idea of my book, Wom-Man, came from all the trials and tribulations these two women encountered.

I have three daughters: Michelle, Nicole, and Erin. The first two live in Texas with loving husbands and four wonderful grandchildren. My third, and youngest daughter, lives in Heaven with her grandmother, my sister, my brother Roy and several aunts and cousins. I miss them, but I know I will see them one day.

As I draft my current book, I am now married to a most wonderful, big-hearted man, my Prince, my Leonard. He has gifted me with five other children: Lenni, Lanee, Keith, Lisa, and Kurt, and twelve additional grandchildren. Life is good and I am blessed! Thank you, Jesus!

As we come to the end of this section, thank you again for your investment of time and I hope you enjoy this site; learning about my books, participating in our Annual Mother's Day Tribute, and most importantly, reading about great women, who put their fears aside to succeed in life!

Before you go, I hope these stories move you to become a Maverick; move you to be different; move you to never be afraid, and above all, move you to know that Jesus is always with you when you invite Him into your life!

If you do not know Him, or have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, email me and I can help you take the next step!
